In addition to our good selection of products in the online store, we offer a small overview of skin care for different seasons and invite you to try your hand at making homemade beauty products.

Winter - cold and crisp season. This is the part of the year when colder temperatures and lower humidity affect the condition of both skin and hair. Even if the temperature is milder, the humidity is still lower during this period, in addition, people are more indoor in the winter, and so it is easy to develop excessive drying of the skin. Now you need to start using a good moisturizer, even if you have oilier skin. Winter makes the greatest demands on skin care, don't forget it!

Dry skin is characterized by roughness and flaking, because the work of the sebaceous glands is not sufficient and the moisture content of the skin has decreased. The cause is cold, wind, changing temperatures indoors and outdoors, wrong skin care techniques or lack of care, chemical irritants, too strong skin cleansers, poor blood circulation. In case of frosty weather, care products with a more oily composition must be used when moving outdoors, so that the too low temperature does not harm the skin too much. In winter, those areas with fewer sebaceous glands are especially affected; cheeks, arms and legs. The skin on the hands is drier than anywhere else and therefore requires particularly good protection. After washing your hands, you should always use a nourishing hand cream and wear warm gloves. This is how you keep your skin soft.

The lips, which are very sensitive to the cold, also need proper protection. In winter, you should mainly use lip balms that nourish and soften your lips, but lip glosses and balms are also vital parts of your beauty collection. Don't lick your lips because that dries more than you think.

Lip care products were the first to be used in cosmetics, i.e. nearly 3500 years ago. In 1910, lipstick as we know it today was presented in France and is the best-selling beauty product in the world. Lip butter is easy to make at home, usually it is simply obtained by melting 2-3 components together, usually coconut and almond oil and beeswax. Intense color with berry juice can be used to give homemade lip balm a beautiful shade. You can make sparkling lip gloss by adding a small spoonful of pink or red mica powder in a suitable shade to 5 ml of castor oil.

Peel moderately and gently. Use sunscreen, which is also very important, because the sun reflects off the snow and ice and thus you get a strong dose of solar radiation. Strong winds and low humidity also have a bad effect on hair. Using a rich hair conditioner can restore damaged hair.

The beauty ingredients of the winter months are different spices, warming oils and dried plants, different butters. Butter is a naturally occurring vegetable fat obtained from plant kernels and nuts that is solid at room temperature. Butters are rich in fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, and these luxurious ingredients are used in face and body care products, as well as bath balls and soaps. Most butters can be used separately because they melt on contact with the skin, with the exception of some harder butters (illipe, kokum).

Cocoa butter, obtained from the seeds of the cocoa plant, is a creamy, fatty wax. It is an excellent skin softener, perfect for mixing with other ingredients. Solid at room temperature but slowly melts when applied to the body. Gives a dense consistency in creams, ointments, balms.

Avocado butter. Rich soft butter obtained from crushed avocado pulp It is rich in vitamins A, B1, B2, D, E, has a nourishing and moisturizing effect and has natural sun protection. Melts easily and is perfect for dry, wrinkled skin and dry hair.

Shea butter. This naturally creamy butter is rich in plant-based fatty acids and has been prized for centuries for its anti-aging and moisturizing properties. It is obtained from the fruits of the African karite tree. Helps reduce stretch marks, eczema and environmental blemishes and has an anti-inflammatory effect.

Mango butter. It is obtained from the kernels of the mango tree and is used in many different ways such as dry, sunburned skin and wound treatment, wrinkles, eczema and psoriasis. A wonderful skin protector in cold climates.

Baking soda - is a gentle, alkaline powder that neutralizes acids. It has various possibilities of use: for making powder, bath ball and deodorants, as well as for rinsing hair. When mixed with water, it helps to remove residues of other hair products, makes the hair clean and shiny.

Beer is a classic means of rinsing and setting hair, which was used by our grandmothers when twisting rollers on their heads. Brewer's yeast contains significant amounts of nutrients, including magnesium, selenium, potassium, phosphorus, biotin, and B vitamins. Sometimes it is also said about beer "liquid bread". The lighter the beer, the better. The sugar and protein in beer make hair thicker.

Dairy products, yogurt and sour cream have a high protein, calcium and vitamin content and have a softening effect. They contain lactose (milk sugar) and lactic acid, which remove dead skin cells and leave your skin pleasantly fresh, soft and smooth. Milk baths were popularized by Cleopatra, who was known for her unparalleled beauty and beautiful skin.

Spices. Cinnamon, cloves, black pepper, anise, ginger, cardamom are some of the great natural ingredients. These aromatic dried seeds and flower buds can be used in massage oils and fragrance products. They are also very useful for warming the body on a cold winter day. Clove is an excellent pain reliever and also a strong antiseptic, an emotionally excellent "spiritual" tonic. Try massaging some clove and cinnamon oil on your feet to warm and relax them (essential oils should always be added to the base oil) Black pepper is warming, invigorating, and has a strengthening effect on our senses. It also has a stimulating effect on sluggish bowel movements and reduces pain, especially after sports. Cinnamon stimulates digestion and improves circulation in the body.

Tea tree oil. The oil obtained from Australian tea tree leaves has a strong antiseptic, antibacterial and antiviral effect. Easily absorbed into the skin. Aborigines have used this oil for many centuries and treated many diseases. This essential oil can be used directly on the skin.

Glycerin. Obtained from vegetable fat. It is transparent, glides well, has a sweet taste and is a good humectant (helps draw moisture from the air into the skin). It is a very good additive in creams and lotions, especially in products aimed at dry and dehydrated skin. Water-soluble glycerin is also much lighter than various base oils. Use this sweet-tasting active ingredient to make your own personal cream or body butter.

Some recipes for winter face care.

Winter moisturizer

A winter moisturizer is very important because the skin becomes dry. This airy, easily absorbed cream does not leave an oily layer on the skin. It contains stearic acid, which gives a lighter feel and texture than beeswax. Stearic acid is a natural butyric acid that comes from fats and oils. You can get it at craft stores because it's used to make candles.

2 tbsp. apricot kernel oil

1 tablespoon aloe vera gel

1/2 tsp baking soda

¼ cup stearic acid

½ cup nut oil

1 cup of water

Place the oils and stearic acid in a heatproof dish. Baking soda, aloe vera gel and water in another heatproof container. Heat the oil mixture in a water bath until the mixture is transparent and the lumps of stearic acid have melted. Bring the aqueous solution to a boil. Slowly add 1/3 of the solution to the oil mixture and mix. The mixture becomes slightly foamy as the CO2 is released. Pour this mixture into a blender and blend some more. Add the rest of the aqueous solution in a slow stream and stir the foam. Now the mixture becomes a white airy cream. Put the cream in a clean jar and let it cool completely. Massage a small amount of cream onto your face and neck. Store in a cool, dry place.

Bubbly bath powder

1/3 cup baking soda

¼ cup citric acid

1 tbsp. of cornstarch

5-10 drops of your favorite essential oil

These bubbly bath salts are fun to use and give as gifts. First, fill the tub with warm water, then drop a small scoop of this bath salt into the water and watch it fizz and bubble. Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil and slip into warm water. Mix all the ingredients together and pour into a clean, dry container with a tight-fitting lid. Be careful to store your salts in a dry place, as moisture causes bubbling reactions.

Winter body butter

60 g of shea butter

60 g of jojoba oil

30 g of cocoa butter

15 g of beeswax

10 drops of floral essential oil

10 drops of orange essential oil

5 drops of rosemary essential oil

Body butters are especially useful during the winter months when the cold air dries out the skin. A simple body butter will help your skin prepare for the challenges of winter.

Place beeswax, cocoa butter and shea butter in a water bath and melt slowly. Add all remaining ingredients and mix well. Allow to cool slightly before placing in lidded jars.
